Public Communication/ Media Relations Officer (NYACASB 8) – ONE POSITION
Duties and responsibilities
The Public communications/Media Relations officer shall perform the following duties:
(I) Monitor public opinion regarding the Assembly on particular issues;
(ii) Develop and implement communication strategies for the Assembly and advice the Assembly on communication issues and strategies;
(iii) Plan public relations programs, including the preparation of cost budgets.
(iv) Present arguments on behalf of the Assembly to government, other institutions, organizations and special interest group;
(v) Respond to enquiries from the public, media and other institutions.
(vi) Arrange interviews with journalists prepare and distribute news releases and make statements to the media;
(x) Oversee production of visual (film or video), audio and electronic material, including website production;
(xi) Organize special events such open days, visits, exhibitions and functions;
(xii) Conduct internal communication courses, workshop and media training;
(xiii) Plan, develop and manage brand identity;
(xiv) Secure Sponsorship deals fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiative;
(xv) Managing the Public Relations aspect of a potential crisis situation;
(xvi) Any other duties as may be assigned by the Clerk.
Requirement of Appointment
(i) a minimum of a degree in Public Relations, Social Sciences or Equivalent qualifications;
(ii) Must have served for a minimum of five (5) years in an equivalent position;
(iii) Must demonstrate strategic planning skills and ability to design and implement short term, medium and long terms plans.
Preferential Criteria During Selection
Suitably qualified applicants will enjoy preferential treatment in the order below:
1. Applicants serving in positions at the County Assembly;
2. Applicants serving in the Public Service in the County;
2. Applicants serving in the Public Service in the Republic;
4. Applicants who are residents of Nyandarua County;
6. Applicants from the rest of the Country.

2. In addition, Applicants for the position of Clerk of County Assembly should submit certificate of clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Higher Education Loans Board, Criminal Investigation Department and the Kenya Revenue
