Job Title: General Manager

Job Title Reports To: Group Managing Director

Main Purpose of the Job

Responsible for profitably managing the day-to-day operations of the company via new business generation, managing current clients and projects, staff and cost management.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Overall achievement of company business objectives and financial targets
  • Overall quality control
  • Developing, writing and reviewing proposals/ creative work/ presentations
  • Presenting proposals and creative work
  • Handling client enquiries and issues
  • Reviewing new client briefs, developing or approving internal creative briefs and allocating work to the relevant teams
  • Marketing and selling the company’s services to existing and prospective clients
  • Reviewing progress & job updates with the client service and creative teams
  • Resolving project and/or staff conflicts, problems or issues
  • Identifying and attracting talented staff
  • Conducting training programmes for staff
Evaluating staff
  • Motivating and coaching staff
  • Reviewing business performance and development, organization structure, and staff development strategy with the senior management team
  • Recommending appropriate business strategy changes to senior management
  • Implementation of agreed business strategy
  • Creating, maintaining and developing close business relationship with clients and suppliers
  • Monitoring competitive activity and recommending strategies and tactics to safe guard the company’s business
Cost control
  • Reviewing and recommending ways to improve operational efficiency
  • Dealing with all third party publics in a manner that develops and enhances our relationship with them
  • Any other task that may be assigned to GM by the Group Managing Director
Person Specification

Education Qualification and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business
  • Mean KCSE Grade of C+ with at least C+ in Mathematics and English or Kiswahili
  • 8 years’ experience;
  • At least 3 years as a senior level management in a Client Service role, preferably in an advertising house or agency
  • Good analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team building and team leadership skills
  • Good organisation
  • Good organization skills
  • Good mentoring skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent  communication skills
