JSI Research and Training Institute Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (RME) Activities Support Request for Proposals

Request for Proposals
JSI Research and Training Institute Inc. is seeking proposals from organizations to support Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (RME) activities for The Maker Movement for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH). We provide a brief summary on the Maker project below.
Organizations must demonstrate expertise in monitoring and evaluation of maternal neonatal health projects specifically hospital maternal, neonatal and child equipment supply and procurement, quality of care, process documentation and stakeholder mapping.
The Maker Movement for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) is implemented by Concern Worldwide, FABLAB at the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

JSI Research & Training, Inc. is providing technical oversight and support for research, monitoring and evaluation on this project and will be the contracting agent for this Scope of Services.

The Maker project has been designed to develop and test a model for reducing barriers to availability of select maternal and child health services by improving the supply of essential equipment and spare parts required for basic MNCH care in hospital settings.
The project aims to address shortcomings related to the procurement, supply, maintenance and repair of MNCH equipment and parts in low resource settings by establishing and facilitating links between local Makers (defined below) and the MNCH practitioner community and facilitating the design and production of MNCH equipment or spare parts.
The overall goal is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the equipment supply chain in KNH.
Project objectives include the following:
1. Test the viability of creating a network, the “Maker Hub”, linking local Makers, biomedical engineers and MNCH practitioners to design, prototype and test low-cost, high quality, opensource, locally produced essential equipment and spare parts to address the critical shortage of MNH equipment.
2. To improve efficiency of sourcing select MNCH related equipment and spare parts.

All final proposals are due no later than October 15, 2013 at 5pm EDT.
Responses received after this date will not be considered.
We look forward to hearing from you.
